PROCESS

Ideate
Using pencil and paper, I created over 30 rough thumbnail sketches in an effort to explore multiple concepts.

Digitize
I chose the three strongest mockups with different directions, then scanned them to began sketching each of them in Illustrator.

Design
After seeing them all digitally illustrated, I narrowed down the best concept. Using InDesign, I began creating the layout and messaging for the poster design.

Refine
I ran my design by some colleagues of mine and refined the design based on overall feedback.

Output
Once the poster was finished, I created a print-ready PDF, then began retooling the layout to create digital assets for the client to use on their website and various social media pages.

CONCLUSION

With these designs, I was lucky enough to become a featured artist for the day. Within the first week of the client creating the social media post with my art, it received well over a thousand likes!

The idea behind these posters was to visualize that this is a “rain or shine” event in a fun way. I enjoyed using the clean vector style, taking inspiration from animation like Adventure Time.
